Hi my dear,

We are Mara & Gloria - Haus of Healing -
and here, inspiration isn’t light. It’s layered. Lush. Loud when it needs to be.

We write about what moves us: music, film, fashion, memory, mythology.
We honour beauty as language. Feeling as fact. Culture as code.

This isn’t just a blog.
It’s a digital altar. A mirror. A mood.

We’re not here to fit in.
We’re here to make sense — on our own terms.

Must-Watch: The Voodoo Renaissance of New Orleans – Honoring the Unseen

Must-Watch: The Voodoo Renaissance of New Orleans – Honoring the Unseen

I just watched a short BBC Special on YouTube, The Voodoo Renaissance of New Orleans, featuring Mambo Jessyka and High Priestess Eshe. It’s a captivating look into the world of the unseen, one that’s all about honoring and building a deep relationship with the spiritual forces around us.

What inspired me most is how Mambo Jessyka explained the importance of ancestral lineage in Voodoo. If you come from a family with Voodoo roots, you carry special powers, making it essential to respect and honor your ancestors. Their blood flows through you—it's your life force, your oxygen.

The special beautifully emphasizes that Voodoo is more than a practice; it's a way of life

High Priestess Eshe's words struck a powerful chord as well, especially her message to the African American community: "When things get tough, remember you're never alone. Your ancestors are there, taking care of you. They've been through worse, so don't give up." This profound sense of support and strength from the unseen world is transformative.

The special beautifully emphasizes that Voodoo is more than a practice; it's a way of life—a life connected to ancestors, spirits, and every living being, from the herbs we use to the offerings we make. It reminds us that investing in these relationships can empower us in ways we never imagined.

If you’re drawn to the spiritual, curious about the unseen, or seeking a deeper connection with the universe, this short documentary is a must-watch. It's a celebration of respect, ancestry, and the spirit that flows within us all.

Love you, Mara
